Join us on Thursday 26th March 2009 to look at new varieties, variety selection and forage nutrition: find out how maize can add more value to your business!
Growing a quality maize variety to complement other forage and achieving optimum feed efficiency (FCE) from a healthy herd are the cornerstones of profitable milk and beef production.
Join us on Thursday 26th March at Lodge Farm, Myerscough Agricultural College, Lancashire PR3 0RT for a forage maize discussion which will include presentations from NK, the Syngneta Seeds brand for maize in the UK, and Keenan.
NK (Syngenta Seeds)
The highest yielding varieties on both the 2008 and the 2009 NIAB Descriptive Lists are NK varieties. NK will be examining the outstanding yield and feed quality of new maize varieties entering the market, including the opportunities they provide to manage feed costs for both dairy and beef producers.
Keenan will discuss their thoughts with respect to the use of maize silage for improving the performance of dairy cows. Against the background of Keenan Mech Fiber, a breakthrough in ruminant feeding, they will consider how optimisation of rumen health and cow health are crucial to improving optimal FCE (which ensures improved margins) and the important role that quality maize silage has to play in achieving such gains.
A meeting not to be missed (starts at 11am prompt). Light refreshments available.
